    Hey! I’m Sam,

    I started going to the gym as a teenager with my sole focus being to lose weight. I spent hours on cardio machines and in group fitness classes, training 6-7 days a week, signing up for every challenge and feeling guilty anytime I took a rest day. When I finally invested in a personal trainer, I made it clear I didn't want to touch weights. Looking back I wish I knew then what I know now, I believed the harder I worked and the less I ate, the closer I would get to achieving my "dream body". 

    But no matter how hard I pushed, I was never happy, I picked myself apart in the mirror, resorted to detoxes, fasting, skinny teas and was constantly chasing "skinny". Social events became more stressful than enjoyable, I started to struggle with binges and anyone eating or ordering takeaway around me. After having my first child, things spiralled further. I no longer had the freedom to train how and when I wanted, so I bought a treadmill and ran obsessively during every nap. When I returned to the gym, I would squeeze in a one-hour cardio class during crèche hours, but life with a baby didn't follow a schedule. My second pregnancy with twins pushed me to breaking point, I was exhausted, depressed and stuck in the cycle I had been in for 15 years.

    That's when,

    I started educating myself on fitness and nutrition. I bought a basic set of dumbbells and started following a home strength program. It wasn't perfect, I fit sets in during nap times but I stayed consistent. I also learned about flexible dieting and macro tracking which at the time was completely foreign, but I stuck with it and everything started to change. My body transformed and for the first time, I saw real results.

    I made every mistake in the book but each one taught me valuable lessons. I realised how much time I had wasted overtraining, under-eating and feeling miserable. I started to do this to help other women avoid the same struggles I once faced. I now chase strong over skinny, eat to fuel my body, enjoy eating out and no longer overtrain. I'm now in charge of my results as I understand what needs to be done for specific goals in different phases of my life and prioritise what's important to me. Fitness isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress, patience and learning to love the journey.
